University and Four-Year college bound students are encouraged to take the SAT and/or ACT as early as possible. Students may want to retake the test, depending on their previous scores. Students should check the admission requirements for their college/university to see which test (SAT or ACT) is required for admission.
College-bound students are encouraged to take the SAT/ACT as early as possible. Students should consider taking either or both tests during the spring of their Junior year, as these scores will be back in time to begin the college application process early during their Senior year. If Seniors did not take the SAT/ACT during Junior year, they are encourage to take it as soon as possible during their Senior Year (September or October, preferably). A general rule for taking the SAT/ACT is...earlier is better.
The test dates for the SAT and ACT can be found on the websites for the individual tests. Click the links below to go directly to the ACT/SAT date listings for this school year.
SAT Test Dates ACT Test Dates The ACT is an achievement test, measuring what a student has learned in school. The SAT is more of an aptitude test, testing reasoning and verbal abilities.
The ACT has up to 5 components: English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and an optional Writing Test. The SAT has only 3 components: Critical Reading, Mathematics, and a required Writing Test. The College Board introduced a new version of the SAT in 2005, with a mandatory writing test. ACT continues to offer its well-established test, plus an optional writing test. You take the ACT Writing Test only if required or requested by the college(s) you're applying to. The SAT penalizes you for wrong answers, so guessing is discouraged. The ACT is scored based on the number of correct answers with no penalty for guessing. The ACT has an Interest Inventory that allows students to evaluate their interests in various career options. Taken from: http://www.actstudent.org/faq/actsat.html You will need to request that your SAT and/or ACT scores be sent directly from the ACT and SAT testing centers. You can do this by logging on to your online account and making the request. Please note there is a cost to send test results to colleges after the original test registration ($12-$15, per school).
How do I send colleges my official scores from the ACT we took in the spring of junior year?9/22/2015 To send your ACT scores you will need to set up an online account with ACT (act.org), if you don't already have one.
